  • Please submit ALL required information (Signed Permit Application, Permit Fees, Electronic Copy and Hard Copy of Plans, and a Bond/Security, if applicable) to the District office AT LEAST TWO WEEKS PRIOR TO THE NEXT BOARD MEETING.

    Incomplete packets including those without fees will NOT be considered. Information received sooner than two weeks prior to the next board meeting will not be considered until the following month.

  • Board meetings are held the second Monday of each month at 7:00 PM at the District Office: 1111 Kenney St., Brookshire, Texas 77423.

  • The agenda is finalized and posted 72-hours prior to the meeting on the District Bulletin Board and on this website. The monthly agenda is posted the Friday before the Board meeting at 11:00 AM.

    If a special meeting is held, the agenda is posted 72-hours prior to the meeting time.

    In the case of eminent danger or public safety, an emergency meeting agenda will be posted 2-hours prior to the meeting.

  • Submit a written request via fax or email to District Administrator, Wendy Sidwell, and ask to be put on the public comment section for the next meeting.  You can also come to the meeting and speak during public comment.  Please note that no action will be taken on your topic or request at that time and comments are limited to 5 minutes.

  • Submit a written request to the District along with an explanation letter to the Board. Your letter and information will be provided to the Board. If approved by the Board President and/or District Engineer, your item may be listed on the agenda.

  • Yes, minutes are taken at each meeting by District Legal Counsel, Johnson Petrov, LLC, and approved by Board action at the next month's meeting. There are over 6 volumes of minutes dating back to 1961.

  • Budget workshops are held in July-August of each year after the Waller County Tax Assessor and Collector, Ellen Shelburne, determines the annual District levy and tax rate from taxable property values made available by Waller County Appraisal District. All required tax notices and public hearing notices are published in the Katy Times. If required, a public hearing might be held to discuss the new tax rate. A board meeting is held to adopt the budget and set the tax rate for the next year. The fiscal year begins October 1 and ends September 30 of the following year.

  • No, all BKDD taxes are remitted to the Waller County Tax Assessor and Collector’s office in Hempstead. Taxes can be paid in-person at the Waller County Annex in Brookshire or at the Waller County Tax Assessor Office in Hempstead or paid by mail.

  • Go to www.waller-cad.org. You can search for property by name of owner, address, ID or account number. Once you find the property, look at the entity codes. Brookshire Katy Drainage District is listed as entity DBK. You can click on “Bills” to see the property value, if taxes are current or delinquent and tax history. You can also view a tax “Statement of Account”. If DBK is not listed, then the property is not in the District.
